What to Expect with Your Physical Therapy Sessions

Our physical therapist will perform a full body functional evaluation in order to identify dysfunction that reveals the true source of your problem and what issues or factors may have contributed to it. This evaluation may include mobility and strength assessments, neurological testing, joint mobility assessment, and other computerized nerve and muscle tests.   Based on the results of your examination, and considering your specific needs, a plan of care will be designed. Our treatment techniques are advanced and effective utilizing a "hands on" approach with soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, ultrasound, myofascial release, electrotherapy, cold laser, traction, in addition to a unique, progressive exercise program utilizing Pilates reformer tables and other effective rehab equipment.

We will propose a timeline for you to achieve your goals of restoring maximum functional independence and improving your quality of life. Our Physical Therapists will work with you “one on one” to make sure that you get fast results! A Little Background on Physical Therapy

The origins of Physical Therapy as a Profession began in the late 1900’s in Great Britain. During WWII and a nationwide polio epidemic during the 1940s and 1950s, physical therapy became widely used in the care of patients. Physical therapy has since developed from basic treatment of function and movement to more specialized disciplinary care.

Physical Therapy is considered an individualized “hands on” conservative treatment method that primarily focuses on pain relief, promoting healing, developing and restoring maximum movement and function, and preventing impairment and disability. Physical Therapy also provides preventive exercise programs to promote and maintain general health and wellness, physical fitness, and postural and body mechanic awareness.

Physical Therapists are licensed health care professionals that provide health care services to patients of all ages with various medical problems and other health related conditions that limit their ability to perform functional activities in their daily lives. Such conditions include neck and low back pain, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, degenerative disk disease, impingement syndromes, sciatica and other conditions in relation to cardiovascular, pulmonary, and neurological dysfunctions.
