Bursitis
Many joints have sacs filled with fluid that act as lubricated protection to spots where the muscles or tendons rub against a bony protrusion. These sacs become inflamed when the mechanical structure of the body has been altered by any of life’s stress. This puts more physical stress on a bursa than it is designed to handle.
While any joint may develop bursitis, the most commonly affected joints are the shoulder, elbow, knee, hip and foot. Bursitis often starts with localized pain that restricts joint motion.
The chiropractors approach to treating bursitis is to restore proper body mechanics (biomechanics) to remove the undue strain on the painful bursa in addition to removing any nerve interference which may be impeding the body’s natural healing abilities.
